Eco Committee Spring Activities
Currently we are collecting batteries as part of our “Big Battery Hunt”. These will be recycled. We are also collecting used printing cartridges. You can send these into school.
We are hoping to start to switch to LED lighting in the school. This may be a phased project Early Years and KS1 then KS2 due to the cost but will be worth in as in the long term will save the school money.
We hope to make a mural out of litter, cans, plastic bottles etc to be displayed in the school grounds.
Now the weather is better we encourage you to walk to school if possible or to cycle.
The Eco Council will be visiting the Milton Keynes Recycling Centre to learn more about waste and what we can do to lessen our environmental impact.
The Eco Council members entered an Anti-litter competition. Amy Fulton in Year 2 is one of the 4 finalists for KS1. Well done!
You could try having an hour a day free of electricity use for a week. That 7 hours of electricity saved – this will also save money.
Go on a #BigBatteryHunt to collect and recycle all of your used batteries. You can collect AAA, AA, C and D batteries and return them to your local supermarket.
Meet the Eco Council
We are the Eco Council and we are doing everything we can to raise the children's awareness of how we can help to look after our world.
We have been talking about saving energy, next term we will be talking about recycling and the following term we will be talking about transport. We will write to you to ask you to do various things to help us. Currently we are recycling batteries but we have started this week collecting ink cartridges. You can drop yours off in the main reception.
Any money the council raise will go to charity. We have a great idea for Christmas, which we will be contacting you about soon.
We have an action plan which you can read below. We hope we can achieve these objectives.
