Year 6 - St. Patrick (Ms Reid)
Homework
On Fridays, children will be given:
- Numeracy homework
- Literacy homework
These MUST be returned by Wednesday of the following week at the latest.
Please ensure that you support your child with their homework as much as you can and if you need help, please do not hesitate to see me after school (Monday-Thursday).
Home Reading Books
Your child needs to read every day, this will develop reading and writing skills. Each child takes books home and the books must be kept in good condition. Please sign your child's record book to show that you have heard them read and feel free to write any comments.
Parent Volunteers for Reading
We would greatly appreciate any parents who would be kind enough to volunteer to read with children in classes.
SATs
As I'm sure you are aware, year 6 is the children's final year when they will sit their SAT tests. Children are encouraged to go online, at home, to find videos and other year 6 activites in areas of learning they find difficult. This is mainly in Maths, English and Grammar, Spelling and Punctuation.
By encouraging your child to revise areas of difficulties, you will be helping them to achieve to the best of their ability. The results of these tests will be included in your children's education records for the rest of their school career, and are sometimes used by secondary schools to make choices about individual class placements.
If you need any help, please see me after school or make an appointment through the office.
Thank you for your support
Ms Reid
