Welcome to St Mary Magdalene Catholic Primary School

Dear Parents and Carers

It is a pleasure to welcome you to St Mary Magdalene Catholic Primary School, a community where faith, family, parish and school come together to support and inspire our children.

Our mission, ‘Growing Together in Faith and Love’, is at the heart of everything we do. We are proud of our Catholic ethos and the values that guide our school, helping children to grow in faith, develop a love of learning and become confident, caring and responsible members of society. We strive to provide a safe, inclusive and stimulating environment where every child is valued, encouraged to develop their individual talents and supported to achieve their full potential.

As governors, we act as a critical friend to the school, we work in partnership with the Headteacher and staff to shape the school’s vision, support its continued development and ensure the best possible outcomes for all pupils. Our role includes overseeing educational standards, monitoring the school’s finances and resources, ensuring that statutory responsibilities are met and providing both support and constructive challenge. Through our Teaching and Learning and Resources committees, we look closely at the quality of education, curriculum development, safeguarding, staffing and the effective use of the school’s budget.

Governors also visit the school regularly to see its work in action, speak with staff and pupils, and understand how priorities are being put into practice. This helps us to celebrate the school’s successes, ask informed questions and ensure that decisions are focused on improving opportunities and outcomes for every child.

We recognise that a strong partnership between home and school is essential to children’s happiness and success. We warmly encourage parents and carers to take an active interest in school life and to work with us in nurturing a community built on kindness, respect, faith and a shared commitment to learning.

We look forward to working with our whole school community to ensure that St Mary Magdalene continues to be a place where children feel safe, happy and inspired to achieve their very best.

Together, we grow in faith, love and learning.
