Class Information
Homework
On Fridays, children will be given:
- Numeracy homework
- Literacy homework
These must be returned by Wednesday of the following week at the latest.
Please ensure that you support your child with their homework as much as you can and if you need help, please do not hesitate to see me after school (Monday-Thursday).
Spellings
Weekly spellings will link to spelling rules taught in class as well as topic-specific vocabulary. Spelling tests will take place on Fridays. In preparation for spelling tests, we ask the children to apply Get Spelling words into sentences and to write definitions for topic words. These skills will be encorporated into the spelling test.
Numeracy
We use White Rose Maths as our main numeracy scheme and also use Big Maths to supplement our numeracy practice. Please find below some useful documents linked to numeracy this year:
P.E
Our P.E lessons will take place on Friday afternoons. For the first half-term, we also have netball sessions on Wednesday afternoons with a specialist teacher from St. Pauls. During the first half term, the children can come to school in their PE kits.
Home Reading Books
Your child needs to read every day as this will develop their reading and writing skills. Each child takes books home and the books must be kept in good condition. Please sign your child's record book to show that you have heard them read and feel free to write any comments.
Parent Volunteers for Reading
We would greatly appreciate any parents who would be kind enough to volunteer to read with children in classes. Please contact the school office and Mrs Jones to enquire.
