Year 6 French Trip Day 3
After a good night's sleep, we had an early start to get to the American War Cemetary. 9388 people are buried here, but the cemetary also honours everyone who fought in the war.
It's always very moving seeing the many crosses and stars of David, and the children were very respectful throughout our time there.
Due to the upcoming 75th anniversary, we were very lucky to meet various D-Day veterans at the cemetary, who were happy to greet the children!
Later, we went to Arromanches and saw the Mulberry harbours, anti-aircraft turrets, tanks and much more!
After, we went to Bayeux and saw the world famous Bayeux tapestry! The children listened through headsets to the history and learned many new things!
As it was our last evening at the centre, we celebrated Kacey's birthday tomorrow with an early cake. The whole centre, including 3 other schools, sang happy birthday to him and he looked very happy!
