Year 6 French Trip 2018 - Day 3 Part 2
We continued our day with a visit to the American War Cemetery overlooking Omaha beach. We spent a few hours taking everything in.
The group saw the museum, and looked at all of the equipment that the soldiers had to carry with them. We also looked at some of the stories of the men and women who were buried there. The museum was packed full of information and exhibits that built on everything that they'd studied in class.
Seeing the rows of white crosses was a very poignant experience. It really brought home the very real cost of war and the scale of the sacrifice made to help end it.
The children were incredibly respectful in the cemetary and have once again done us proud!
