Day 1 Photos
Today we set off on our Bournemouth 2026 adventure! After the long coach journey, we arrived at Portland Castle, a National Trust site and one of Henry VII's coastal artillery forts, built to defend the harbour. We explored the interactive displays whilst taking in the sea views from the battlements, followed by lunch at the indoor café (the weather halting our plans for a picnic!). We then took a short drive to Portland Bill Lighthouse, built in 1906. As part of our visit, a very knowledgeable guide provided us with lots of information about the original light fitting, which is still on display at the base of the lighthouse. We have arrived at the hotel and are currently getting settled for dinner and a walk to the beach front!
