At St Mary Magdalene we have our own kitchen so meals provided for the children are freshly cooked on site everyday with freshly baked bread. The wide and varied menu changes on a half termly basis to offer a variety of choices.
St Mary Magdalene has many years of experience catering for schools. We started offering our pupils hot meals twelve years ago - long before school meals was on anyones agenda. Each day the children have a choice of a main meal, a vegetarian option or a filled jacket potato plus fruit salad and a healthy dessert. We are committed to encouraging and helping our children make healthy choices.
Please remember all hot lunches must be pre-ordered a week in advance. Click here to see if you qualify for free school meals or email firstname.lastname@example.org.
The registration forms for free school meals can be found below.
Alternatively, parents may provide their child with a healthy packed lunch. Hot drinks and soup are not allowed for safety reasons. Drinks should be in a proper container, not glass bottles or cans. Chewing gum, sweets, chocolate or chocolate biscuits are not allowed in school as part of our aim to promote healthy eating.
As a healthy school, St Mary Magdalene believe that the children should have access to drinking water throughout the day. Parents may purchase a water-bottle from the school to help facilitate this.
We also participate in the ‘Free Fruit For Schools’ scheme. Children in Nursery, Year 1 and 2 are entitled to a portion of fruit/vegetables daily, free of charge under this scheme, which the children are given at morning break. The school also takes advantage of free milk for pupils under five. Parents of older children may purchase milk for their child from Cool Milk For Schools.
